MARJORAM SPANISH// Thymus masticina/Spanish marjoram, mastic thyme Endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, it's known in its native land as Spanish marjoram. It shares only names with sweet marjoram and thyme, but in essence, it functions like other oils rich in 1,8-cineole, such as eucalyptus and rosemary. The oil's effects on the body: antiviral (flu, weakened immune system); expectorant, mucolytic (bronchitis, pneumonia with a wet cough. Do not use for dry coughs and asthma!); anti-infective, anti-inflammatory (sinusitis, maxillary sinusitis, otitis, laryngitis). Relieves headaches caused by nasal congestion. Pain reliever, antispasmodic (painful muscles, arthritis, sprains). Antimicrobial (Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, Fusarium). Antioxidant. The oil's effect on the emotional level: improves cognitive functions (inhibits acetylcholinesterase - can be used as an adjunct in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease or for prevention in people with family history), helps with mental exhaustion, and has a tonic effect. In perfumery: Top notes. Pairs well with other citrus essences (lime, lemon), and with essential oils of cajeput, leuzea, lemongrass, niaouli, fir, thyme, clary sage, hyssop, geranium, lavender, rosemary, Roman chamomile, juniper, cedar, myrrh, and myrtle. Important: Not for use by children under 3 years of age. Not recommended for treating dry coughs, asthma, or epilepsy.
